After 21 years, the European Marine Biology Symposium returns to Iceland from September 4^th to 8^th 2023 at Hotel Natura! In these 21 years, our marine ecosystems have come under greater threat from climate change, ocean acidification, eutrophication, and overexploitation. At the same time, improvements and advances in monitoring tools and approaches are supporting the management and conservation of marine biodiversity. We invite you to join us to hear from colleagues about how we, as biologists and ecologists, are responding to these challenges.

The main conference theme of Biodiversity distribution patterns along environmental gradients in marine ecosystems will honour A.R. Wallace’s contributions to marine science for the 200^th anniversary of his birth. Another nine themes will serve to highlight the diversity and breadth of research carried out in marine ecosystems.
